Default San Jose CA: Mechanic and Body Shop Recommendations

I moved to the San Jose CA area, and am looking for recommendations for both a mechanic for my 1994 968, as well as a body shop to do some minor jobs (such as an install on an invisible bra).

Being in the South Bay, I would obviously prefer to use shops that are located here, but I would be open to any options in the entire Bay Area, as I am more interested in finding shops with direct experience working on water cooled Porsches than I am in finding shops that are geographically convenient.

Thanks

Nathan

Perhaps you should head to this meeting today and ask one of the folks there

Good call. We should have a pretty good turn out. Tony Heyer (Heyer Performance) in Mt. View may be the reigning south bay 944 guy, although there are quite a few good ones in the area. As for clear bra, most good body shops sub that out to a small handful of specialists in the area. Contact Crazy Eddie from that other thread to get contact info on his guy (and come see his amazing handy-work at the get-together this afternoon).

I moved to the bay area a little over a year ago and wanted to install a short shift kit to my "89 944 N/A.

I stopped by Heyer Performance in Mountain View and was told they only replace OEM parts. Tony was a total jerk about it, laughed at the idea that any after market product couldn't be as good as Porsche parts.

Since then I have replaced my motor mounts, timing belt, water pump, and had a manual steering rack installed.

The shop that did the work is also in Mountain View and I would highly recommend them.

Another vote for Tony at Heyer Performance. He's a good friend and Wes is awesome too.
