I just bought snow tires..
for the camaro, but thats not the point of this post.
the point is the michelin artic alpin 225/55/16s i bought were $109 (edit i transposed the numbers the 109 is correct) on the web site, and $92 when i called up.
guess how i ordered them.
moral, call up to confirm prices.

Tom, the Z28s came with 235/55/16 or 245/50/16s. Did you choose the 225/55 because it has less tread area? You arent planning on driving it a whole bunch in the snow are you? If so get a plow and a tow hitch! :>)

I this is kinda off topic, but if you think 275's are wide, My boss just had his '69 camaro SS mini-tubed and put 345's on it!!! Looks like a flintstones car. :-) It still won't hook up if you don't want it to!!!!!!!!!

i called tire rack, checked their site and discount tires site. they all recommended 225s. had i known i may not have sold the 968 snows i had.

hard for me to believe but road & track says the car has a 55/45 weight distribution. still probably need the sand though. my neighbor worked on the rebuilding of the local bridge and left an 80lb lead ballast at my dads house. looks like a piece of gold bullion only lead. that should fit in the trunk without too much rattling.

i was gonna get the dunlops too. they were 104 on the web site, the michelin pilot alpins which i had on the acura were 121, and the michelins i got were 109. i dont think there is enough difference between the michelins and the dunlops so i was gonna get the least expensive. plus the dunlops are h rated the michelins i got are q rated so i cant drive the mullett more than 99 mph.

Tom. Tie that ingot down in some fashion. Even a hole through it with a rope will do. If you crash hard that sucker will come flying through the seat backs and maybe smack someone in the head.

you probably havent seen the rube goldberg contraption called a camaro trunk.
directly in front of the bumper is a well about the size of three or four grocery bags. in front of the well is the floor of the hatch. that goes for about a foot maybe foot and a half. then in front of that is the seatback. fold that down and you have about a six inch dip.
i nearly broke my back when i bought a six pack of the gallon windshield fluids. too big to fit in the well, too tall to leave the seat up, slid over the seat then had to squeeze the box through the door because the box was too far forward to reach.
guess the well is there to prevent the car from pinto-ing.
