Really depends on the region. I know when I used to do a lot of Potomac events they only took Porsches. However, I just moved from the South where it was pretty much run what you brung.

I ran with a couple of Ferraris, a bunch of Spec Miatas, BMW Z8 (wrecked it), and miscellaneous others.

If you're a PCA member it would likely help you get in, but the DE chair should be able to tell you if you can run your Z28.

Thats a good idea, Tom, why don't you hit the metroNY website and email the DE chair.
If you get in I may have to come to that DE

What Dave said is correct: the far away events (Mid-Ohio, Mosport, VIR) are the events that NNJR has non-P-cars in the event.

There will be a couple non-Porsche club members running with us at the NNJR VIR DE on November 7-9. Scheduled to appear will be an NSX, an Audi S4, and a T-bird. These are members of other car clubs that have sufficient track experience.

The biggest reason NNJR (and most other PCA regions) keep it all Porsche is because they rarely have a problem selling out their events.

Autocross is a different story: while the upcoming Zone 1 event is Porsches only, most regions (IIRC) allow non-P-cars to play in the regular season autox's, but they are typically grouped into a couple very large classes. (Side note: new for the 2004 season at NNJR, the X-class will be split into three groups: X-Stock, X-modified, and X-race: these classes are pretty self-explanatory).

you guys use the word sold out. as a pca member if i get my payment in on time can i run the chevy?

at metro autocrosses there can be an unlimited number of x class cars, but only 10 or 15 x class (non pca) drivers.

so i guess it boils down to are DEs for pca members or P cars.

Tom,
Talk to your autocross/DE chairperson.

Every region does it differently. It all depends on number of cars and such. Most PCA regions want to make sure they break even and will allow other cars to ensure that. Other regions have plenty of cars and therefore would rather keep things Porsche only.

I never had a problem getting in the DE's around here in my Prelude (Mid-OH and Putnum Park). Though I did know the tech guy and I was a member of the tech crew which helped me get an in. However there were many other non-pcars there including Miata's, Vettes, NSX, Audi TTs, VW Golf, Rabbit, and Scirocco, MR2, etc. who were not on the tech crew.
