What a fantastic car you have! Seems the car went to a very loving home and will be cherished. The paint does look nice even though it was Guards red originally. You can always make the color change back, but for now you have one amazing 944!

Great cars, I had an S2 daily and AutoX car for a long time. The 18's look oversize and cartoonish to me and I am not into stretched tires but to each their own. Obviously address the cam chain pad if need be, that'll ruin your day.

Cam chain pad was done around 7k miles ago. That was actually one of the first things I asked about, haha. As for stretched tires- I am not a fan either, and mine are definitely not stretched. I've got 275's on a 10" wheel.

Those were the old crappy free tires that came with the wheels, and you're right, they did look a little stretched, which is part of why I went wider on the new ones. Believe it or not though, those were 265's in that picture.

Good looking car! Glad to hear of another well kept S2 getting enjoyed properly. Really jealous of the black paint... Really like the wheels too. I always say I'd never go to 18s but those are really tempting. Did you just paint that rear sway bar or is it aftermarket?

It's just painted. When I was cleaning I found that it had some scratches on the sway bar for some reason. I didn't have any black paint handy, but I happened to have the exact same yellow as the Bilstiens, so I thought, why the hell not, haha.

Haha no it looks good! Good idea. Glad to see others paying attention to detail and cleaning underneath the car

Well, I started a new job (Porsche dealer as it so happens) this week and with all this extra driving I have discovered a few things that need attention on the S2.... big things actually.... looks like it will need a clutch soon, and it sounds like the torque tube bearings might be toast. This is going to be expensive.... and being that I JUST started the new job, I've now gone 3 weeks with out a pay check and one more week to go till the first one from Porsche, so I don't really have the funds to throw at it. I'm babying it right now while I figure out what to do.

I really can't have it down indefinitely right now since I don't have a back up car. We have my wife's CRV, but I can't leave her home with the kids and no car.

Anyone have a good spare TT? haha

I drove my S for almost 8K miles with a weak clutch (original rubber center disc) and noisy TT bearings because I was in a similar situation with no backup car at the time and low funds. (It still needs both.)
You should *knock on wood* be able to get by for a while by continuing to baby it.
If you can come up with the funds for parts at some point, maybe you can host a "Clutch and TT bearing thrash" party with some helpful FL RL'ers and knock it out in a weekend?

Good luck, and congrats on the new job!

Well, I couldn't continue driving it as it was. It was just awful. So last week the S2 was banned to the garage. I've been slowly taking it apart when I have time which is not often (did almost 70 hours at work last week). So far everything is apart, waiting on a few parts to arrive before it can go back together. Old clutch appeared to me original and the rubber center was obliterated. I'm honestly surprised the car could still move. In addition to the clutch I'm also doing a rear main seal while I'm in there, new motor mounts, short shift linkage, new shifter, and I was finally able to finish up all of the new undercoating. The plan is to have it back on the road by Thursday.

I'm also toying with the idea of trading my ATS Apollo II's for a set of 996 Turbo Twists....
