Default What tire size is right for a 944 with 16" 968 wheels?

The search is finally over, I'm buying a nice set of 16" wheels off a 968 from a local guy. What do you guys think of 225/40 front, 245/45 rear? I think these sizes will be good, but just want some opinions.

Thanks!

nope i would keep it the exact same as the factory - 205/55 front and 225/50 rear. (245/45 rear would work for size but your car will probably understeer with that front tire size.)

Not sure what widths they are, but, if they are 7" & 9", then, 225/50/16 & 245/45/16's... Not exactly sure what the stock car had, but, you need to match the RD closely, unless you're changing it for a specific reason... The Turbo S had 16x7 & 16x9's w/the tire sizes I mentioned- not sure about the normal 968's (M030's had 225/45/17 & 255/40/17's)- Joseph may be right, as I'm not familiar w/what your car actually had, or, what width the wheels are...

Stock sizes on the 968 rims (7J x16 front, 8J x16 rear) are:
205/55-16 front and
225/50-16 rear.

I do suggest you 'up-size' to:
225/50-16 front and
245/45-16 rear.

That combo works very well on the street and track, and adds up to the same diameter that stock has, thus not effecting your odo and speed-do .

The 5-spoke 968 rims give our cars a nice updated look:

I'll second Z-man on this one. The plus zero (which is what that is called) is a great fitment for these cars. I am not keen on the 968 wheels but to each his/her own. Z-man, what with the center reflector?

It came with the car! When I bought my car for a steal ($8k!) it came with the good (the 968 wheels, dealer maintained, single owner, all maintenance done), the bad (over 100k miles, guards red: I wanted any other color but red!!) and the ugly (rear center reflector). You don't look a gift horse in the mouth!!

Since then, the color has grown on me, as has the rear center reflector. With a guards red 944, you gotta have something unique!

Put a big sticker on the hatch and remove the reflector! Paint a purple racing stripe, that is unique. I always think of the ones with reflectors as non-listers (people who dont know any better). Are you sure aliens have not been in your neck of the woods and removed grey matter :>)))))) J/K

[taunt mode on]
Matt:
I'll keep the reflector on, so that when I lap you again and again on the track, you'll know it's me!

It is hard to drive straight (never mind fast) while laughing at the car in front of you!

Yep: gotta love the web: bringing people together for friendly banter ALL OVER THE WORLD!

Carfuscious spelling? Well, I figured I'd already butchered the first part of his name, so why not continue!?!?
