The copper strip is in my living room- it's attached to the a rotating thing that the SH** bags connect too... That's my prob... I can look at it & see where the metal has been scraped by the little prong thing...

Funny enough this just started happening to me today. Loooks like a little peive of metal is rubbung when you turn the wheel. Put a peice of paper between the wheel and steering column and turned the wheel and it stopped. Took the paper aay and it started again. Haven't looked into fixing it yet. Many more things to fix.

I completely forgot- Tom Pultz has an excellent write up of removing the wheel, etc on his site:

http://www.944s2.com/

Check it out...

Dan- when you slid the paper b/t te contacts, did the horn work?

Robby,

If you have a Momo wheel and they used a Momo or Sparco hub adaptor to attach it to the steering shaft then you already have a copper ring (horn contact).

After reading this I remember a similar situation when I initially installed my Momo wheel. The little copper tab was just slightly not in the right spot and scraped against a raised portion of the hub adaptor instead of only riding on the copper ring. I pulled the wheel/hub right back off and slightly bent the tab into a better position, which fixed it.

The later rubbing/scraping I described was not that tab, but rather dash trim.

Thanks man- I'll have to remove it & look at it again- it's been awhle since I've looked at it, but I'm getting pretty annoyed w/not having a honr- probably needed it twice in the 3yrs I had the car before the Momo & have needed it probably twice a week in hte entire year since I haven't had it!

I also had a scraping b/t the Momo hub adapter & the factory plastic trim where the adapter sun into it- we ground a tiny bit of plastic off the car part & it rotates fine now- can't really even tell unless you were REALLY astute...

Robby,

Stuck paper in between wheel and steering column. Grinding noise stopped when i turned the wheel and horn still worked. From what I can see there is a little piece of metal sticking out from the steering column that is rubbing against the wheel when you turn it. Don't know what it is or if it is worth taking the wheel off.

Is the little piece of metal rubbing against a copper metal strip? if so, that's the horn contact- a good pic would be on: http://www.944s2.com/

He has a close-up of the pieces we're talking about...

Finally got the chance to take a closer look. There is a piece of copper rubbing against the wheel. Is is toward the bottom ot the steerig column. seems like something that is always there and don't know why all of a sudden it is making noise. What can I do about it?
