Thanx for sharing though.

That's what I did- you can also dremel the back of the handles & not even have to buy the 968 pulls- I forgot what they're called- they're inside the doors- the long metal pull things that connect to the back of the handle lever- anyway, it's not hard to mod the backs of the handles to make the 944 handles fit- that saves you ~$30, AND, IF you don't really care, you can use the 944 levers themselves- they're not a whole lot different- that's another $15...Had I known, I might not have bought the 968 ones- I didn't know about the other things, so I saved the first $30, but was in a panic when I realized the dif...

Mine just came in the mail from Sunset - $189 with shipping. Jeff was a great guy to work with and will offer that price to anyone.

How hard is it to find the pin for the pull? The one that it pivots on and holds it in? The pull on 1 of mine broke and I have early handles that I could switch the pull with but can't find the correct pin yet.

It SHOULD be:

944.537.243.00 (x2) Clinch Pin $0.79($1.00)
OR
900.309.041.00 (x2) Pin 2x12mm $0.46 ($0.26)

Not sure which one- there were actually THREE different sized pins, but I can't find the other one- I have the list of #'s- actually, I'm going to go ahead & post it at the bottom here- I think I got it fro Keith Foster's how-to- that's a great thing to have for the install BTW...

944.537.661.04 G2X Door Handle, Left $88.94($65.00)
944.537.662.04 G2X Door Handle, Right $88.85 ($65.00)
944.537.611.00 Rosette, Left $25.93($18.00)
944.537.612.00 Rosette, Right $25.93($18.00)
944.537.621.00 Base, L (gasket) $2.24 ($4.00)
944.537.622.00 Base, R (same) $2.24($4.00)
944.537.631.00 Base, L (small gskt) $2.95($2.00)
944.537.632.00 Base, R (small gskt)$2.95($2.00)
944.537.671.00 Control Lever, L $11.65 ($7.00)
944.537.672.00 Control Lever, R $11.65 ($7.00)
944.537.655.00 (x2) Tension Spring $2.56($1.55)
944.537.243.00 (x2) Clinch Pin $0.79($1.00)
900.309.041.00 (x2) Pin 2x12mm $0.46 ($0.26)
999.218.079.02 (x2) Screw M3x5 self-locking" $1.59 ($1.00)

My total came to $274.13 ($165.00)

Not sure where these prices came from, but, they've gotten cheaper at places like Sunset- They have a list of parts too & can help you out- the only other things missing from this list are the 968 pieces that I was talking about, that come up through the door & connect to the back of the lever itself... You can either use a dremel or buy the new ones- I think they're a bitch to hook up though, IF you buy the new ones- that's according to Keith's write-up...

Tom P's site that shows how to do the mod really discouraged me from trying these! Seems like a MAJOR project removing the old handles and swapping them.

Right?

Andy - It is really not that hard. I have swapped stock door handles a thousand times before (the hardest part is the panels and not scratching the new ones since they are painted). Keith Foster also has a great writeup on how to install them. Now if onlt the money starts rolling in I can finally swap a set on MY car.

Right?
Let's give credit where credit is due. I did not create the parts list - that was the other Keith. I did write the procedure, which is on my website - www.951motorsports.com and is linked on Tom P's most excellent 944 S2 site.

The 968 Handle and Aero Mirror installation gets easier each time you do it. Unfortunately the learning curve is pretty steep and takes two tries to get it down pat. Which means you'll have a hell of a time with your own, but can then do anyone else's quickly and efficiently. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.
