i would say that a nice job could be had between 2000-upwards of 6000 depending on who does it, you may find cheaper but i would ask to see some of their work.

I've been checking the same thing myself.
Looks like $3000-$5000Cdn (+ extra for bodywork) gets you a nice job at a good shop. If you take the little bits off your car yourself you can save labour $$.
See where all the high-end cars get done in your area and check those shops.

Here is the list of minor repairs needed on my 86 944 Turbo with the original Garnet Red Metallic paint job:
* 3 small door dings
* Very small dent on quarter panel
* Small dent on front bumper
The quote is for a complete 2-stage re-paint of the same color which includes removing the seals, lenses, and replacing some parts (e.g. stone guards ), etc:
* Parts total: $965.70
* Sheetmetal labor: $1,192.40
* Re-finish labor: $1,284.80
** Total: $3,442.90
Hope this will be useful.

As others have point out, you will save an tremendous amount of money if you can dissmantle the car by yourself!
I can't really remember how many hours it took for me to do it, but I think it took about 40 hours to strip the car for the repaint. This was my first time so if I would do it again some day (I swore I would not!) it would go a lot faster.
But you get the picture, paying labour at a good shop for a tear down and then a put it all together = $$$$$

aprox 5 grand up for a good paint job. its not just the paint, its the work that goes into it; the prep, paint, bake, cure, cut, polish, etc etc etc... its whats is doene before and after painting that makes a paint job stand appart.

If you are going to invest in a really good paint job, redo all your seals at the same time. Cost me about $1000 Cdn for all the rubber seals (even the key hole grommets), new OEM sill protectors, new rear Porsche decal, stone guards, new hood emblem. Ended up replacing my tail lights and a couple of the sidemarker and turn signal lenses as well. Unless these small detail parts are virtually perfect, they will stick out like a sore thumb against the new paint.

I spent 3 grand cash (under the table) at the paint shop that did the R/T stripes on my dodge, which also included minor body work ina couple places, similar to yours. They did a real good job and when compared to my dad's $1,500.00 paint job you can really see a difference. Like someone else said, it's not just the paint, but the prep work before and the detail work afterwards. Any schmo can spray a car, but it's the polishing, wet sanding, etc etc afterwards that really brings out the shine.
