Default Tips for removing exhaust sealing rings

This is really stupid, but one of those small things that always slows down the process. Can’t find anything small enough to pry the old sealing rings out. Anyone have a method?

Go to home depot. THey have a little oxygen/map gas kit with nozzel for about 30 bucks. Now, heat up the ring so it glows red hot (I was taught this cool trick by a muffler shop), it will actually swell and POP out of the groove. It happens pretty fast, but just be sure not to melt the ring or cut it...I've never tried propane, I don't know if its hot enough to sewll the ring, you have to get it almost white hot...but it will swell to about 1/4" and force itself from the groove. I have tried drilling, picks, hammer, cussing, etc etc..this is the easiest way.

Take care

OH man... I feel better not being the only one.
John, that's one thing I would have never thought to try.

Thanks for the cool tip.
