Default DME Temp Sensor Installation

Hey everyone, so I am having a lot of cold start issues with my 1983 Porsche 944, I have narrowed it down to most likely being the DME temperature sensor, so I am going to install a new one. But I wanted to ask, on the 83's, how hard is this to do? I can't seem to find info on how to do it on the older style cars (not sure if it's different anyway), is it a big job that I should have my shop do or should I try and do it myself? What do I need to remove, are there any special tool requirements, etc....? Thanks for any help!

Just FYI, so you understand why I have narrowed it down the the DME sensor, because I know people are going to ask. We tested for fuel pressure and flow rate at the fuel rail, checked the fuel pump, checked for any other wiring issues or vacuum tube breaks, and we even richened the fuel mixture a little bit to see if that fixes the cold start issues. And so far no luck, so I am going to replace this sensor and hope that it's the issue. Also, the check valve doesn't seem to be the issue as the fuel pressure is held when the car is off (like a check valve should do), but if this DME sensor doesn't do it then I will replace the check valve as well just in case.

Takes 1 minute. Get yourself a 19mm deep socket, it should fit over the connector. Bleed coolant when you're done, million google results for that one.

I tried searching Google for a while first and couldn't find much on it. But alright thanks. Where exactly is it located?

At the front of the engine, driver side, mounted to the water neck. The sensor has a blue connector head.

Thanks for the help! The new sensor seems to have solved all my starting issues. Won't know 100% for a couple days.
