Shock question
At some point, I'm considering lowering the 944 via springs and the eccentric bolts in the rear. And while I know it'd be a good idea to replace my shocks while I'm at it, finances seem to say otherwise. So, optimum performance aside, is there any problem with keeping my current shocks on a lowered car? I've heard that some shocks work just fine when you lower a car, while others will quickly blow.
The car currently has the original shocks it left the factory with in the rear, and Boge replacements in the front (replaced a little over three years 20k miles ago). It's not the sport suspension. Would they hold up?
Thanks,
BB.

It's better to replace your shocks and springs at the same time, because it involves the same work.
If you increase the stiffness in the front, but not in the rear, you'll have massive understeer. So you should get a new set of torsion bars, or a rear coilover kit if you increase the front springs.

Aside from the understeer problem if you increase the front springs, you can utilize the stock shocks, but I would make real sure the rubber bump cushions are in good shape or replace them.

Well, I've got the Weltmeister rear sway bar and the stock front one, so I'm hoping I shouldn't have too much of an understeer problem if I tighten up the rear bar. If I do this without replacing the shocks, I'll probably only go with the 200# front springs. Otherwise, I kind of like the KLA rear coilovers I was reading about in that other thread...
