I have a block with balance shafts and covers. I bought it from Jeremy Himsel. Jeremy said it was good to go as is for a rebuild. Lart thinks it is scored from looking at pics. I agree with Jeremy or I wouldn't be selling it.
$500 shipped to your door. Actually $250 plus shipping which I will cap at $250. If I can ship it for less than $250, you would pay less than $500. If shipping is over $250, the price is $500 total.

Do you have any good pictures of the bores? What year is it, approx. miles, is it tolerance group 1, and do you have the matching crank girdle as well? Are the bores straight?

sorry to bombard you with questions, just sick of picking up "good engines" that end up being trashed one way or the other.

I have a couple of good NA blocks. If your other options so far don't pan out, let me know. I'm driving through northern Texas and OKC in about a month, I could bring the engine with me.

Here are the pics I have. I can take more if you need me too.

I bought it used so I don't know the miles or if the bores are straight. They appear to be but I haven't measured them.

The cover is sealed to the block with anaerobic sealant, and has a rubber O ring seal on both ends. Same thing on the 85.5 and 86 NA motors I've torn down, and the 86 turbo engine was essentially identical to an 86 NA motor except for a few small differences. The balance shaft setup is identical.
Then how did the oil feed get through the balance shaft cover to the oil feed line to the turbo? What I was referring to comes from Clark's, among other sources.

Thanks for all the nice offers guys, but I think I'm going to go ahead and have Luis send me a really clean low mileage block. I'm just done taking chances on iffy blocks, I'm tired of the BS and just want to start assembly. I appreciate everyone trying to help out though!

I see the light now, what a fool I am for trying to rebuild my stupid porsche engine.

I'm going quad turbo LS7 now. Thanks Od.

Twice as many cylinders, no timing belt, no balance shafts? It'll never work!
