Thanks for sharing the article.
It's interesting that Porsches never look impressive in numbers but they're usually at the top of the driving impressions, road feel, handling, acceleration, etc. That's why you can never argue that a Porsche is 'better' than other comparable sports cars unless you're giving a ride or letting them drive.
Okay back to F1 qualifying.

Daniel,
Thanks again for the effort. How do you like the Epson scanner? I have the 1640 with the back light cover for transparencies and negatives up to 4" x 5".
I don't like the do it all itself Epson software and thus use one of the older drivers and Twain interfaces that lets me go a manual preview and crop capture.
I just rememberd that I usually save the first 400 dpi scan as a bmp or tiff, work this including reducing the dpi and convert the final impage to a jpeg. I don't work the jpeg and reduce it because the jpeg format leaves artifacts -- noise -- and will muddy the image when it is reduced.

The software for the scanner has a manual option allowing me to edit the scan area among other controls.
This model came with the backlighting as well along with the slide/film adapter.
It works great. I haven't tried with negatives yet. I'll play with that later.
FYI: Epson has a great deal on these online. $149 for refurbished items with a 1 year warranty.
Try
Epson's Online Store .

The only problem I've had with my Epson is the color balance test strip that is under the begining of the scan area. Actually under the top just before the document opening. Epson seals the glass with double sided tape.
Over the years that I've used this scanner the tape comes unstuck letting dust and paper chips under cover. When the scanner sets up for each scan it looks at this white test to set it's color. If any thing is in there it sets the scanner color sensors for it. Then you get streaks of colors through the scan. A real PITA to clean but I've become quite adapt at it.
