Default Help!!!!

I am trying to run a wire through the firewall and can not figure out where to do it. The grommet coming through on the drivers side is too tight, and I have been at it for like an hour with no luck. Where else can I go through? The wire is for a water temp guage. Where have you run wires into the engine compartment?

Thanks
Mike

A good place is to run it though the engine harness grommet, small hole then seal it with black silicone. Another place is the grommet behind the battery 1/3 up towards the windshield. Were ever, seal it good! And don't cut the body!!

There are a couple of small grommet holes behind the battery. One if for the antenna wire from the windshield, and the other is for the alarm horn.

If your car does not have an alarm installed, you can remove the plug in the fire wall, and then use the gromett for the alarm horn wires. You can find the spare wires and gromett (if no alarm is installed) in the wire harness above the golve box. You need to remove the glove box door and the insert. Once the door and box are out, the wires will be tucked behind the vent tube going to the passenger side air vent. Just pull the tube out and look up. If the hole in the spare gromett is too big to seal your temp gage wires, use some RTV to seal it.

I just went through this during an alarm reto-fit.

Keeping in mind Cliff he has an early model like your 84, that does not have a windshield antenna, and probably doesn't have an alarm.
