Incorrect boost gauge reading

Incorrect boost gauge reading
On my '86 951, I've noticed that when I have ignition on / engine not running my boost gauge reads 0.5 bar, not 1 bar as it should be. Is this likely to be an issue with the KLR, or just the gauge? I do also have an strange intermittent issue on cold startup where the engine appears to run very rich, hunting and smoking but clears after driving about a hundred yards or so. Could this be related? Any Ideas on this? It's stock apart from an Authority MAF and chip set.
Thanks.
Thanks.

What does the gauge indicate under full load/boost? Root cause could be KLR, gauge, or connections/grounds. Would start by cleaning your chassis and cluster grounds.
Re: the intermittent issue...would look at the MAF. If the issue were consistent, would suspect the coolant temp and/or oxygen sensor(s).

With everything connected and powered up, Pin 5 of the KLR should have slightly under .5 volts when the ignition is on and the motor is off. If it has about that (say .45 volts), then the KLR is ok and the problem is in the wiring, cluster or gauge. If it's reading more like .25, then the KLR is putting out a low reading for some reason (bad grounds, bad pressure sensor, cracked solder joints, etc.). You can test it fairly easily by back probing the red wire with white stripe in the square red 4-wire connector in the passenger footwell. It's a big bulky connector, so multimeter probes have no problem fitting into the back while it's still connected.
