Lachlan, determine if your balance shafts have any leaks at the rear seal. If the rear seal is leaking then replace everything on the way to getting to the rear o-ring seal including front seals, sleeves..etc.

If you have the cam tower removed from the cylinder head remove the spark plug for cyl #1, insert a long wooden dowel (or tape a few chop sticks together). Removing the other plugs will make it easier to turn over the engine if needed. Turn the crank bolt clockwise until the dowel stops going up, this is TDC. Verify the flywheel OT mark thru the viewing hole in the top of bellhousing and the straight line in the bottom on the bellhousing viewing hole. Reinstall the cam tower with the gear alignment indexed to the mark on the housing and reinstall the belts ensuring nothing came out of the alignment.

Any worry with this amount of oil grime being recirculated through the throttle?

Might want to consider doing a leak down test to get a base idea of what you're dealing with engine health wise.

Alrighty. Added to the list. I'm already in the process of draining coolant, pulling belts, and exposing the timing area, so I'll probably do that after I do seals and timing.

Can I just say that "WYIT" may prevent my children from going to college.
