Default Factory fire extinguisher in Euro/ROW cars?

I saw a picture of a Euro 944 for sale in Europe somewhere and it had what looked like a factory fire extinguisher at the side of the passenger footwell, just ahead of the door.

The reason I say factory looking is that it looked to be about the same size, shape, and color as ones I've seen in Euro BMWs of that era.

US cars never had fire extinguishers, although many folks carry them and are available with brackets from a variety of sources. I'm wondering if 944s destined for other markets had them? If so, which markets? Perhaps it's a law in some parts of the world that you have to carry one in your car?

Any info anyone?

Not that I'm aware of. I've read probably every book and piece of sales literature there is for both markets and have never heard of this. I do like what the Europeans are doing now with the roadside emergency kits and extinguishers... classy.
