I used to drag race an 85 Camaro and I had a blast doing it. It’s not abuse if you love to do it. After going through the Porsche Performance Driving School my whole perspective on Drag racing changed. I could care less if i ever seen a drag race again I am that hooked on auto-x. Some people would say that I abuse my car during auto-x but that is half the fun of owning a Porsche. Different strokes for different folks.

How many drag race strips are there in Europe?

Regardless it was "for fun" and at Tri-state there is now way you are going to hurt anything more then you would at a race track or autoX. Because its so slippery on the staging area that you don't have to worry about blowing anything.. Hey at anything over 2500rpm I was spinning and I was feathering the clutch (not droping).

Drag racing a car with an independant rear is just plain unwise. Unless you're hording a stock pile of CV joints!!

With street tires and >2.0 60' times you can't really argue there is much abuse going on. All of the driveline shock is beign disapated with wheel spin, if you were dead hooking off the line then you can assume your axles/rear/tranny are taking the hit. Spending 20 minutes in a lapping session is definately stressing the entire car more than 15 seconds and 3 shifts.
