OT: Vancouver area owners......
A question for you guys, if I may....I want/plan to move to Vancouver soon, a prospective position at my company has developped at 169 Davie St (Davie and Bidwell). It was always my goal to live "downtown" Vancouver in a nice area close to work so I could walk, and be close to all the action, sights snd scenes etc etc. In your opinions, would 1690 Davie be a good area for that.....and aslo would there be some nice apartments nearby...within walking distance to work and all other ammenities, and walking distance to "downtown". Anyone want or looking for a roomie?
Thanks
Kevin
Thanks

Hey Kevin! That is PRIME West End location! 2 blocks from English Bay and 3 from Stanley Park. I know that branch pretty well, as I have accounts there. It's easy access by public transit too.
Shoot me a PM and I'll fill you in on housing - lots of top end high rises within 1 klm in the hottest areas of town.

$650 - $800 for studio's downtown. $800/mo studio should be almost brand new.
$700 - $1200 for 1 bedrooms. again, $1200/mo will be brandnew.
expect at least $900 - $2000/mo for a 2 bedroom apt downtown.
Anyways you split it, you're gonna spend at least $750 /mo to live in a decent place. Even you get a roomie, you need to split $1200-$1400 /mo.
And I would never live on Davie street. I can live without seeing guys licking each others faces as they walk down the street.
Best part of the West end is right along English Bay/Pacific or in any of the new high rises. It's better to move into a more expensive place because the tenants usually are well off and they don't bring strange criminals into the uildingwith them like in some of the cheaper apts. Find a place with a resident manage too, or at least a manager that is always around. Helps security.
And BTW, that TD on Davie and Bidwill is literally right next to Balthazar's, one of the BEST nightclub/lounges in the city!! I'm always sending people there!

I also don't want to see anyone guys licking each other haha

edge - actually the West End has absolutley no traffic problems except for Georgia/Denman/Burrard during rush hour. And even then, I can show Kevin how to cut through the west end during rush hour! I actually grew up driving through the West End during rush hour..
but anyways.. it's a nice area. LOTS of great eating, nice scenery etc etc..

Serious! Cool I'll add ya, Ryan. Yeah it doesn't have to be Davie, just somewhere downtown or close to it....
