Default 1983 Porsche 944 Stock Speaker Size

Hey everyone, so I've been searching all night looking for information regarding the stock speaker sizes. I have a 1983 Porsche 944 with the 4 speaker system, and I am planning on replacing the head unit, and all the speakers at some point and then adding a subwoofer (already the sub I am getting in mind), but I can't seem to find information regarding the stock speaker mounting depths and exact sizes. I did find an article on Clark's Garage but none of the speakers listed to fit are available anymore (it was an old article), the ones that did fit though had some specifications listed and the mounting depth I was able to find is about 1 3/4 inches, is this correct though? And on my year of car with the 4 speaker system are all 4 of them 4 x 6 speakers? Or is that just the mounting plate size of them?

I just want to make sure I know all the exact sizes before I order any speakers for the beauty, so if someone on here has done this before and had success please do share. Another important thing is I want 100% stock look, I don't want to do cutting and still want the stock grills. I want to simply pull out the old ones and put in the new ones (and redo the wires if I have to, which isn't hard).

Thanks for any help in advance!

That depth is correct. Otherwise the window will hit the magnet. Fronts are 4x6. In the rear you can put in 6x9's with a little cutting.

4x6's all around for you unless you cut, you can get 4x6 spacers to help with the mounting depth to a point. You also have to take into account the tweeter height as well if you want to use stock grilles. The stock grilles don't clear most 2 way 4x6's unless you get something like the infinity plate style 4x6's.

Thanks to both of you for the information, that answered all the questions I had. I will be finding some low profile 4x6's to put on all 4 of them and then installing a sub. But unfortunately it will be like 10 months before I can do that.
