ahh.. it was my understanding that the number was on the cam tower. either way i'd like to be able to do it without having to install a whole cam, i'd rather keep that cam with its original tower, and run it that way. anyone need an early cam? $50 in tower, plus shipping.

I found one in really good shape and has 15509 stamped between the intake and exhaust lifter. I think the early cam has the number stamped somewhere else. Let me know for sure whether this is the right cam. Email me.
