Nasty! I shattered two phone dials when I crashed my previous car, but that's something completely different... how the hell did that even happen??

Took a corner to hard and slammed into the curb. You should have seen the control arms on this car SNAPED. I have those pics aswell.
ITs a good thing those wheels weren't forged or else he would have flipped the car.

And RUF wheels are usually (always?) made by Speedline.

I was under the impression that the TUV standard for European alloy wheels said that the wheels are supposed to deform in a crash and not shatter. While this results in a wheel that is a little less rugged in day-to-day use, it won't fly into pieces and result in a crash if a car hits something at high speed on an autobahn. Speedlines are made in Italy, right? So they are supposed to conform to that TUV standard, no? Or is it just for German wheel manufacturers - BBS, etc?

TüV is simply the German road authority or something like that.

Just about any wheel will shatter on heavy side impact.

I saw a replica shatter at TWS in Bryan/College station at about 140+. Pretty cool to see a wheel flying down track.
