Default '76 924 for sale

Hi All.

Long time Porsche fan, first time poster.

I've been casually browsing the 924/944 listings in my area for the last...forever or so.

One car came up locally that I can't help but go look at.

It's listed as a '76 car from Canada. It looks a bit rough. It's cheap.

I would have cruised right on past the listing, if it weren't for the fact that its listed as a '76 -- By my count, that makes it like a 1/5000 kinda of car, should it be true. I had the listing open on my computer for like 4 days. I was driving home last night and happened to see the damn thing parked on the side of the road....It's less than 5 miles from my house. I took it as a sign. I'm trying to coordinate with the seller to go take a look at it.

I've read up on a few of the various FAQ's and "what to look for" guides I've found around the internet.
I've read through:
http://www.connact.com/~kgross/FAQ/944faq.html
and a bunch of stuff on 924.org

Does any one have any additional resources to point me at for reading material before I go look at this thing?

My background is as BMW mechanic, before becoming a software developer. My previous Germanic Love was my Grandpa's '89 BMW 750iL (now being cared for by my brother). My other car runs on Magic Spinning Triangles. That is to say, complex over-engineered things don't scare me.

Thanks,
Jason

Besides the usual stuff
Look up above the pass side footwell. RUST.
Smell the carpet & seats for mildew.
Pay particular attention to the hatch & body for damage. The hatch glass likes to separate near hinge points.

Then you're going to get a kick out of how simple these cars are, while still being refined. Really easy to work on.
