On topic responses please...
I'm curious who has actually done it. What is everything that you need to do it? I'm considering doing this as opposed to tearing my engine down to fix it, since I have to take the engine out anyway... Then I will at least have my car back on the road and MIGHT be able to sell the 2.7L at a later date.
I'm seriously considering purchasing a 968 engine from a fellow Rennlister, who said that it will include everything I need to do this swap.
I'd like to get the feedback of folks here, from those who have done it, some third (4th, 5th....) party advice is always welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Matt.....
What happened? Here's what I think you'll need....
Motor (duh)
Wiring harness
DME
exhaust manifolds and cat
New flywheel and clutch disc/pp/to-bearing(951 setup?)
I'll check with my partner tonight for you. If you want, call me about 5ish central......

I have seen a 944s2 hooked up to a S intake.
Made for a less then agressive lower end power but out of no were it would go "bam" and power came on nice and strong.

Hey Matt, shouldn't you get a definite answer on your engine problem before diving into another motor? Before you go into debt with another engine and all the tools/labor required to do the swap wouldn't you feel better knowing for sure what's up w/ your engine...what if it's oil pressure relief valve that got stuck open, oil pressure went down and lifters started tapping? Pulling the head and fixing is far easier than engine swap, not to mention far less expensive.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Trevor,
You make a great point, which is why I have looked into a bit and had the mechanic look at it first. He diagnosed it as the oil pump of course though. This weekend I will be towing to a friends house who has all the tools we need to figure out the problem.
The mechanic said he checked the OPRV and that was fine so I'm going off of that. I will check into that this weekend as well.
I'm really only doing the preliminary homework here to figure out some details. I'm trying to figure out what's involved so that I can weigh both the costs and time/difficulty of either tearing the engine down and fixing the problem or getting the new engine in there.
Also, if I do this, I will be able to sell some of the old engine to recoupe some funds. I won't have to buy any tools because my buddy's got everything we need and he's letting me work on it at his house.

How much would it cost to rebuild the 2.7L versus getting a good 3.0L. If the engine is coming out either way, and the price difference isn't that much, why not go with the bigger and better engine? Sure, it'll require a little more work with the DME, but that's pretty much it. And you'd have a better, faster car when all is said and done.
