Default Heater clip fix - zip tie okay?

Suffered the common heater "mixer flap" clip breakage today. Easy to fix IF you have a new clip - which I don't.

Can I zip tie the rod to the arm for a couple of days?

Forever?

Thanks,

RK

I beleive that the ziptie deal is a common fix. I know it has been done temporarily, not sure how long it would last?

Has winter arrived in Toronto?

It's starting to get a little cooler here in San Diego.

I've used a glue gun for quick repairs. Forgot all about it until about a year later it came loose. Finally ordered some clips, but haven't recieved them yet.

Zip tie for now, but just order the clips. They are like a buck and take 5 minutes to fix.

That should hold it. I used a twist-tie until my clip arrived.
It's an easy fix. The hardest part was getting into position to fix it.

I've used a "speed clip" usually used for mounting automotive speakers and a zip tie - but I found it's tough to get the rod tight enough against the motor arm without binding. The OEM clip allows free movement through a prependicular axis and I can't really recreate that with the zip and still hold it tight so the flapper door fully closes (no heat). I don't want to generate too much resistance and burn out the motor. Zip fix will work for a couple of days - but I'll order the clips.

Thanks,

RK

PS. No, winter has not arrived - we've had a couple of cool mornings - but it'll be in the high 60's this week.

My zip tie held for over a year until I finally got that plastic clip that was sitting on my desk forever installed.

Haven't noticed a difference

My Zip Tie has been going now for (drumroll please)

6 years!

And I just got the real clip in the other day for the heck of it. Maybe one of these days (read "next year") I'll actually "fix" it!

YMMV

You know that as soon as you do, the little cheapo plastic clip will break in 3 weeks

[Don't fix it if it ain't broke]
