Default Car Dead... No Power

When I went to start my car today it seemed the battery was completely dead. No power at all. I assumed all it needed was a jump start, but that doesn't seem to work. I have tried 2 different portable jump starters but have not been able to get any power to the car. No cranking, not even lights or anything.
Any ideas? Could it be that the portable units don't have enough power? Or is there something else it could be.
Quick replies would be appreciated as I'm looking to drive home from school tonight!

TIA

Conor

If the portable jumpstarters you are talking about, are the kind with the battery in them, it should have been fine.
Is the ground cable secured? Any corrosion in the cables?

I got it started, i pulled of the battery cables and put them back on and it started fine. I also figured out why my battery was dead, the cooling fans dont shut off. Looks like its a simple fix.
