Get a rammount off of amazon for $40 and use your smart phone, more up to date maps. Next get a pioneer 80prs for $300 and install that. Bam, good sound, bluetooth to the phone (or direct control) and the ability to have the stereo auto tune for the car with its included microphone.
I practice what i preach, its exactly how i have my s2 setup. This P-classic radio is going to be stupidly expensive and not be nearly as capable.

I was thinking about installing a Blaupunkt Cupertino 220 in my P-car when it gets to that point. what's the consensus on that radio? I'm really not into all the mobile maps stuff and flashing lights. Just a good basic stereo sound w/o all the sub woofer stuff is all I'm after...needs to have good reception, and a CD player that's decent..but I really didn't want to go so far back as to have tubes in the radio either..

I came across it in the RL NZ thread. The 964/993 guys have been hogging them! The business owner looks like he is a 964/993 enthusiast so they have 964/993 stereo adapter harnesses for sale too. Maybe someone can send them a few 944 stereo wiring looms to have a 944 off the shelf adapter too.

Nice! I just assumed it was impossible to get something that actually had features without looking ridiculous...
As nice as the idea of an adapter is for the 944, how many cars have wiring that hasn't been mangled by previous owners at this point? I'm guessing maybe 1 in 20, if we're lucky.

Becker is the obvious choice but color screen navi becker will cost upwards of 1500€.
Monza looks good in 944.
This is mine, I made this vid for dispute on ebay..

No flashing lights here boss. I cheated here by grabbing a pic off the web, i have the color on mine set to orangeish to match the cars illumination.

Can't remove the previous post pic, but heres a photo with the 80 installed and running in my car.
If this P-classic radio wasn't going to cost $1500+, i'd kind of be into it, but you can buy the cleanest (new production) single din headunit for $1200 (pioneer 99prs) or the 80prs for $300. Both of them will blow the p-classic out of the water in how they sound for less money.

Porsche radio is rebadged becker. Becker blows all competition out of the water in the way they sound, user experience and functionality. That is the reason they are oem in porsches, ferraris and other top notch cars.
One of the best things about becker is the double radio tuner. While you listen to one, the other one is doing a real time rds named list of available stations so you never need to search for stations, you just pick the one that radio already locked for you.

Nothing against your Pioneer, but it screams "aftermarket" which is what people are trying to avoid by buying the Porsche classic unit.
