I bought the S2 at the beginning of August, so I've had it almost exactly 2 months. Total cost so far is about $12,300. That's $6,150 per month! I've driven it about 150 miles, so that's $82.00 per mile.

$20/week @ 9 months = $720
$720 Insurance
$4420 for 9 months = $468/month

80 miles/day Mon-Fri for 9 months (subtract 2 months of downtime) = 11200 miles to date.

$0.40 per mile. Not too bad.

Some of you will have to be held back from long lengths of rope if you do this. I learned a long time ago, never ask a Porsche owner "how much did that cost." They dont usually like to think about it.

I bought my 89 951S for $6500, $850 for body work, do all my own work and have all the spare parts I need in my garage, and my insurance ($1200, which doubled from $600/yr for liability since my 109 mph ticket and license suspension), comes to about close to $10k including all the misc expenses like registration and maintenance parts like belts and oil. Drove the car for 2k miles in 2 years, comes to about $5k per 1k mile, or $5/ mile Ok, its my spare car so $/mile doesn't apply and since it only has 79k miles, I don't drive it often.

Tom - if your car wouldn't have been stolen however your cost per mile would have decreased substantially.

Because theoretically all of your maintenance and upgrades would be done so you'd be able to get quite a few miles out of the car before having to dump anything aside from gas/insurance into it.

I'll try to figure mine out soon but I know I've put about 15,000 miles in two years on this thing (lotsa road trips!)

you guys are all forgetting the residual. i knew what i put into the car (not counting gas insurance and registration, but including sales tax) and got a definite payout number.

take what you put into the car and deduct what you could get for it now before coming up with depressing figures.

I think I won a bet i made three years ago with a co worker. i bet it would cost me less to own a loaded four cylinder porsche for three (originally four but fate stepped in) years than it cost him to lease a loaded four cylinder camry.

What do you guys think I could get for my car? Paint's original and in great shape except two spots and the front bottom lip, and the interior's great except for dash cracks.

I know a guy who had C$80 K into his 951. It was nice, but not that nice, and pretty much stock except for some big reds. It makes me feel much better about mine knowing that it could be worse.

Cost per mile is about $2 so far, or about $1200/month

Take out a FMV of $7500 for the residual, cost goes to:

50 cents/mile, $300/month.

Montly figures will go down this winter, costs per mile wil not change!
