Can one safely obtain more power by shaving the head on the 968 to increase compression?
What is stock compression on these guys 10:1 ..?
If it can be done how much can the compression be incresed and what sort of HP/TQ gains can reasonably be attained.
Thanks
Ross

I used to keep my head shaved and it definitely gave the impression of more power. 6'5" with a shaved head and surly attitude, if not powerful certainly scarey.
Sorry. Now let's return to the original topic.

According to my computer dyno program going from 11 to 1 to 12 to 1 would have a net increase of about 7 HP.
You are going to have a hard time finding high enough octane gas to support that compression ratio though. I have 10.7 to 1 on my 944 N/a with a guru chip and it still pings under load running 93 octane gas.

I agree that the head design between a 968 and a 944 is completely different. 11 to 1 compression ratio is one thing but 12 to 1 is whole different ball game.
Danno, actually I have been playing around with the FQS switch and it does make a difference. The point I was trying to make though is that 12 to 1 compression is awfull high for a daily driven street car running even 93 octane gas.

stock s2 is 10.9? so I would think with a good gas with tulean you shouldn't have problems with 12:1.
I really don't know what I am talking about but thats my $.02
