Tell them you'll take $15K and they'll never hear from you again. With tax that's very close to your original offer ($16,312.5 or $16,112.5 after deductible). See how much they are willing to fight over the extra grand.

I say take the $14k, IMHO, that is a good deal for you.

A dealer here in Cincinnati sold an 89 S2, may have the year wrong, to a friend for $11,500. It was a one owner car, 65,000 miles and with all service records. The car was absolutely perfect.

I'd take the money and shop around this winter. Frustration and time will begin to play a factor.

i said ok to the 14k. then i get the fax, and the bottom number is handwritten at 14k. somehow the tax disappeared.

the fun never ends.
stay tuned, hopefully it is a clerical error.

I would figure if their policy is settlement PLUS tax, they wouldn't be able to short change you...tax is tax, and is a very serious matter, right?

Well I am very very calm now. why am i calm you ask? because i ripped the poor adjuster a new rear end. never raised my voice, the closest to a profanity i came was calling their comparable a piece of crap that they were ramming down my throat. spent a good ten minutes all she had to say was that she said full settlement.

told her to go back to her boss and tell him i am a stupid *** because i thought everything she said was pre tax. then i asked her what arbitrator they were gonna buy off that would agree the difference between an 89 and 90 is $2400. thats when she finally realized their appraisal was a POS. I said maybe 500 she said 700 to 900 max for the year. i asked her to add 2000 to their numbers for this material error and see how close we are.

she called back a little later and asked if 14000 plus tax would settle it. i told her i am a man of my word, and told her i would strongly consider 14000 yesterday just minutes before the mail came with NYS regulation 64 which included the term "conditon".

i will be signing the title and mailing the keys in a little while. oh it is so nice to blow off steam. too bad she is just a working class slob like me. it should have been the genious at ccc valuescope that bore the wrath of tom.

I say you fight it a bit more, and see how it plays out.

Tom, You did the right thing in my opinion. Take the money, close the book for now, and maybe in a little time you'll get the yearning for another p-car.

Definately in 968 territory if you sell the Camaro. But you don't want another nice car to park at the station, right?
