Default Hatch question--Mine's crooked!

I noticed that the right side of my hatch is lower on the body than the left side. Assuming I can mess with the pins enough to correct this, is it more important to be straight? Raising one end, or lowering the other may put the pins out of adjustment...etc?

Must find this rattle cause!

The weatherstrip seal on the body is what determines the seated position, is it level? If not, find out why. When your hatch is closed, can you push it down more on the high side? If so, you have to screw that pin in a bit at a time, testing after every turn or two. Don't go too far or it will not release properly.

Not to alarm you but, if nothing else fixes it...

Make sure it's not the body that is different from side to side. Lift the side flaps on the rear hatch carpet and look into the "cubby holes" behind the rear wheels for any signs of accident damage (distorted sheetmetal, drill holes filled with filler).

I learned this from my old 944S, not my current car...

Nah, my car was never hit...I think it may be the spoiler that's warped a little...causing the illusion of the hatch being crooked?

I need a nice clean 968 hatch! Bet that would solve my rattle.

Andy,
I have a perfect hatch of my turbo I'll trade with you if you're interested. Swapped mine for the '91 S2 hatch(bridge spoiler) off my parts car. Easy swap, takes like 15 minutes total

who knows, it certainly didn't bother me while it was on my car. I'd rather trade than sell outright. If I sold it, my parts car would be hatchless = not weathertight = bad. If your spoiler is truly warped, this might be fairly painless and cost effective way to repair it. Finding a nice 968 or S2 hatch like mine will cost a min. $1000. Just throwing it out there because you are sorta nearby etc.. you'd obvisously have to drive down to get it. I could swap the two in my driveway in no time.
