Default Pitting on 944S camshaft - options?

Picked up a set of 944S camshafts recently and upon inspection the lobes for #1 exhaust have some pitting on the nose.

Wondering what can be done to fix this...I see WebCam and Elgin offer "stock regrind" for these cams for about $240 per cam (would have the intake cam worked on at same time, may as well)...but I saw on the 928 side someone had basically sanded the pits smooth and ran with it.

Any other ideas?

Spencer send them to web cam. Mine have the same problem and that's what I'm going to end up doing too. $480+sh. This is the part that realy adds to the timing assembly parts needed for a 16v biuld. It's the unseen overhead costs that sneak up. I'll probably be getting the 928 Motorsport lightwieght lifters too. Check them out.

Spencer,

I realize that you are experimenting on using a 16 valve head on an NA, so I would use them until you decide what you ultimately want to do.

You may want to have a more aggressive grind done when they are hard welded.

I saw that Webcam offers a regrind option and they are semi-local to me so that may be where I go.
Humboldt, you may try contacting Elgin cams, they are in the south SF bay area.
Are those lifters still hydraulic? I might be up for splitting a set with you, if you do want them.
The price is right for a set of new lifters, if I get a freshened cam.

Paul,
If all goes according to plan the 16v head will go onto a 951 short block to see boost. But I don't mind spending the money to fix the cams up front, to avoid problems later.

I'll check them out. What would realy be the ticket is some Michael Mount cam's! Have you seen them? And yes the 928 cam followers are still hydrolic. If I only had a bag of cash fall into my lap!

I think an outfit like Webcam can weld up the pits but am not sure. Call them.
