Default Insurance company wants to total my 944 Turbo

As some of you heard my car was keyed yet again, this time the insurance agency doesn't want to deal with it from what the adjuster told me on the phone. My car is a all original 944 Turbo that I purchased 2 years ago with 42k miles on the clock it now just turned 62k. On 21st of September someone keyed my car all the way from the front fender to the rear of the car. This is my second key claim with this car and the guy said something about once they reach there limit of claims for one car they will total it. The agency also tried telling me that they use KBB value in order to find the value of these cars, if they do I'm screwed (maybe 6k if im lucky by KBB standards)!

WOW this year keeps getting better.

Just ask anyone that was at 944 fest, this car is to nice to total out over a scratch. I guess I better prepare to do what Tom was doing because I'm not letting go until I see at least 12k for this car which is what I paid for it (he was asking 14k) a few years ago, but I have since added wheels, stereo, and various.

I've heard people talk about totaling a vehicle, then buying it back. You should look into that.

I agree. They give you KBB and then buy it back from them for half that.

WOW KBB said my car is worth $5,685 !! Yep we are going to have a problem if they come at me with that offer! Plus I don't want them to total it because its harder to get full coverage insurance for it again once they do that from what I was told.

If you do let them total it, you'll have a salvage title, I think. If that means anything.

To total a car because the paint is scratched is absurd. Who is the insurance company?

Keyed twice in one year? Similar circumstances? (ie same parking lot?) I guess it goes without saying you need to find a better place to park. I've had cars keyed too. It sucks.

Dump that insurance company!!!! If worse comes to worse, just have it repainted using a decent discount paint shop and keep it or sell it for $12,000. Don't have it totalled!

Well I called the other owner and he purchased it from "http://mgmsl.com/showroom.cfm" Marshall Goldman Motor company in Ohio, and just 3 years ago the car has 25k miles and he bought it from them for 21k. I told him to send me some type of proof that he paid that much so I can show the insurance company that 3 YEARS ago that he paid that much, maybe that will show the insurance company what kind of market there is for these cars. People are willing to pay a big premium for low mileage cars and the insurance company needs to know this.

when insurance companies value cars using classifieds they have to go by the asking price. check panorama, excellence, autotrader, rennlist.

get a few examples of cars similar to yours. in your case i would stick to 87 and 88s because of the airbags not available in 86, and the S being the 89.

i will send you a spreadsheet if you want that i used to value my car. look at my that was a sticky one. use that as a template, build up cars and knock down cars. use about 2.5 cents a mile. no adjustment for year if you use 87 and 88.

keep me posted.
