Sticking accelerator pedal
hi guys, a few nights ago I was on my way to collect dinner and had the gas pedal jam on me. It took me by surprise but gave it a flick with my foot to release it and nursed the throttle for the rest of the trip.
I did a quick inspection but can't see anything obvious. Once it's depressed at certain point the pedal will stick. It doesn't appear to be from the TB end, only somewhere at the pedal assy.
A forum search only shows a few 928 threads where the cable had frayed and jammed in the firewall. I don't see obvious signs of wear and its still in it's sleeve. As you can tell from the pics it's a bit of a tight squeeze up there compared to a LHD car so before I try and jam my massive hands in tiny gaps does anyone have any thoughts towards a solution?
Photo 1 - 0% throttle.
Photo 2 & 3 - throttle jammed.
Photo 4 - Engine bay side, throttle jammed.

Idea for determining if it's in the cable, or in the pedal assembly. What if you set the pedal to WOT, and used vice grips to pinch the cable so it can't go back into the sheath/sleeve. Then you can move the pedal freely between 0% and WOT to see if it sticks anywhere. On my family's Odyssey there was a similar problem and greasing the pivot pin for the pedal cleared it up.

Had cable strands break in the end connected to the TB. Was not evident until I removed the cable from the throttle "cam" attached to the throttle body, then the broken cable strands were exposed. Replaced the throttle cable before the throttle hung up.

Indeed. It's these kind of RHD specific parts that make 944's not fun. I can always find the LHD version but hardly ever the RHD version*. It's like a ratio of 5:1.
*Of course starting with a website in the right country helps.

It's pricey but here it is.

Wait that's a 944 not a 952 hold on.
Ask Ian from that eBay page. He may be able to help. I just bought my 951 throttle cable from him. Don't know if the 944 and 952 are interchangeable.

Thanks, but that is 952 specific. The 945, 952 and RHD 944S, whatever designation they got, are all different. I would need 952 423 023 05.

Thats just something else I'd have to ship from overseas. I'll keep researching for a cable while I check out whats wrong with mine. I've messaged Ian, he's helped me with a few things before.
