Thanks V2. This is my second 1989 NA. I sold the first one, regretted it, and bought this one. This car’s got a power drain coming from a short somewhere within the wiring harness, that I don’t think is findable, so it probably needs to be scrapped anyway. Clearcoat’s shot and peeling. Too bad. It’s a 1989 2.7 litre NA, which has the big valve head the racers use, so it’s going to be worth something to someone. The engine is sound, although it probably has 190,000 miles on it. Can’t tell exactly. Odometer’s broken. 190K is my best honest guess. I did love this car. I once took it on a sort of half-lap of America. Up to South Dakota, West to the Coast, South to LA and East back to Alabama. It wasn’t lonely. Just me and my car. It was an absolute joy to drive. The ’89 NA just fit me like a glove. I don’t think there ever was a better-handling street car.
If anyone is interested I also have an extra transmission, correct part number for the 1989 NA, mileage unknown, sold to me as having had only 60,000 miles on it. My son, who is a 944 Turbo enthusiast, laughs and says every 944 transmission ever sold on eBay was represented as having had only 60,000 miles.
I’ve been looking for another good 1989 NA for a while now and they all seem to have vanished. I haven’t seen one for sale for a long time. I’ve almost quit looking.
Looks like I probably can’t afford any of the three cars I would actually consider buying now. A Triumph TR3, which I started with in club racing back in the day (early 60s), a Lotus Super 7, to which I graduated and could occasionally win first overall with, and a 1989 Porsche 944 NA. I do have two Volvo V70s, a 2006 and a 2007, that are joys to drive. I bought the '07 one just in case the '06 ever blows up. I’m 82. You’d think I would outgrow my love for cars like these, but I haven’t.

You could talk with Eurasian in Birmingham. I know they work on 944's but I have no idea of their pricing or ability.
Todd Patterson in Goodlettsville, Tn use to do 944 work and knows them inside and out. I have not talked with him in 3 or 4 years so not sure of his work status now.

He called me the other day to get some help selling his parts stash off.

Expert Mechanic in Nesbit, MS
Desoto Eurowerks is a Great Place to get work done. Monte is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and a walking encyclopedia of anything Porsche and for 944s. I purchased in late November an 85.5 Alpine White 944 that hadn’t been driven for at least 4-5 years. He went Thru fuel system, brake system, clutch, etc and got the car running and safe and went out of his way to acquaint me with my car. He is a treasure.

Randy Greff at Greff Motors in Metairie, LA did all of my 944 work when I lived there and always did good work. That was a number of years ago, but they are still there, because I recently referred a friend in Mandeville to him to bring a 1988 911Turbo out of a long storage. That isn't terribly far from Gulf Shores. You might give him a call and inquire about your needs.

My 89 944 came from over your way. It was registered in Orange Beach I believe.

Indy wrench
Just moved to the Tri-cities area near Johnson City TN . I may need some mechanical and electrical help with my car as soon as Intercity Lines delivers it. If anyone can guide me to a good Indy mechanic I’d be grateful. Thanks.
