Default Upholstery questions

Hi,

As I am new to this great forum, please apologize if all my questions are asked and answered before... It's not that easy for an Norwegian...

I need to do something to improve the seats in my 944. The original vinyl/pinstripe are falling apart, and I want to replace it with a vinyl upholstery kit.

Problem is that I suspect that my seats are pre -85, even if my care are an 86 modell. How do I spot the difference?

Does anyone know a god source for what I need?

The seats up through February 1985 did not have a seat belt receptacle as part of the seat, and had 4 bolts holding the rails to the car floor.

February 1985 and later, there were 6 bolts on the rails and the seat belt receptacle was part of the seat.

When you decide to install the seat covers, try to get them warm before you pull them into position. It helps them stretch and removes wrinkles. Good to hear from someone "up north".

After working abroad for 6 months am I finally back home, united with my worn out seats.

So today was the day to carry out the installation of the only944.com upholstery kit. And I discovered to late that the instructions at their web-page are for the type 2 seats. Especially the backrest is different, and I cant figure out how to connect the metal rod to the springs. There is no space to fit the tie band or hog rings....!

Any one who have an advice, or links to DIY instructions?
