Default Early & Later Front Windscreens 924 / 944

Has anyone changed from the 924 early 944 to the later flush type ?

And if so is the later screen thicker heavier, Lighter or no difference ?

I also heard they might be the same ? but the later type use some sort of
spacer / packer to raise the screen to be flush with the body ?

I'm pretty sure they're different. I had a glass place install a later windshield in an early car, and they were able to get it to be flush most of the way around (at the base of the A-pillars it was a little more recessed). They also used their own generic molding, and had to trim the sides a little bit to get it to look good.

From the pic below, you'll see that looks are secondary, and functionality is primary.

Yes thanks, it looks good on your car, and hence on mine it just looks like such an entrapment of air, which even if it was flush I doubt any difference would be noticed but?

It just needs filling up I think.......

The screen is good condition, so I will also consider looking for a rubber seal than is a good size to fill the gap!

I've gone single, although in this shot it's upright in the middle...

I 'm having a single wiper which parks on the passenger side as the wiper is
in my field of vision! my Race seat is so low on the floor the wiper is in the way!

RHD car for the Uk of course,

I'd tuft test that windshield wind trap before going any further. There usually is a major low pressure area at the top of the windscreen...so it may not be robbing you of as much speed as you might think. If the tufts are laying down that would show good laminar flow...if they are standing straight up, that would show a stall or low pressure turbulance are in that area...but you would also need to test how far back the laminar stream re-attaches to the roof as well. Perhaps a small strip, mounted above the windscreen would help smooth the airflow by re-directing it. .02 cents

Blimey that kinda sounds way too serious and technical sticking pieces of tuft on the car and I guess getting someone to take shots of it at various speeds!

The top section does have a flat spoiler like cover, it's the sides all the way from the bottom corners of each side that have a channel which without even attempting a tuft run will for sure trap air, saying that the air may run up the channel and then dissipate itself reasonably well ?

I guess Porsche just decided to clean up this area maybe more for aesthetics when they changed the design to a flush one ?
