Default Exhaust tip

How does the exhaust tip p/n: 477-253-192-G attachs to the tailpipe? Currently theres a welded on tip that was once chrome. The 477-253-192-G replacement looks like it slips over the tailpipe from the pictures I've seen of the replacements.

Usually they need to be cut off and the new one welded on.

It doesn't look like it welds on.

I just would hate to buy something I can't use.

I don't think that will work then. The exhaust on these cars have welded on tips.

I got one of those tips then realized it wouldn't work. Almost like it would've been held by something like steel wool jammed in the gap. (OE looked like it was before rusted out). I got a weld on tip and plan to cut off the tail pipe where it flares and weld on this one. Pay attention to the length as if too short you pull exhaust back into cabin

Pelican lists it to fit all years of the 944. But it sounds it only fits certain years or and models. Welding on a old exhaust pipe might not work out to well, you can burn right thru it. But I think I have found a solution to my ugly exhaust tip: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/grh-grt2310/overview/

I'm trying to figure this out too, if anyone has any "tips" (har har!). I bought the OEM replacement tip but it doesn't fit over the old, dingy rusted chrome tip. I'm thinking I need to cut the old one off, then slip the new one on.

That's what I did. This works perfect. Make sure the inlet side fits the diameter of the tailpipe and the length is per your application as they vary.
