If you see coolant coming out from behind the timing belt cover, then the WP is probably done. Put some tracer dye in the coolant and check with the magic glasses. Cheap and effective. If you can jumper the fans direct to the battery, and run them, be sure they are nice and smooth. might be bad fan bearings too.
I jacked up my car and seen that it was the wp leaking from the timing belt cover so I'm going to order this whole kit https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...FRCCaQod5NIAQA

You can run the fans by jumpering the terminals at the relay. This way you can hear just the fans running with no engine noise. Go to clark's 944 garage website for a how-to. I'd install a new fan temp switch since it's cheap and you're doing everything else.

The extra wire sounds like it might be for the dash warning light. The gauge sensor has 2 blade style terminals, 1 for the gauge and 1 for the light.

lots of endless, 'since you're down there' crap to do with these cars.

when they start running hot, a whole heap of troubles come.

944s/968s always tell the truth. even when they lie.

in the end, they take an *** ton of your hard earned money.

be careful... sometimes it's always good to know just when to cut and run.

and swap to V8 power.
