I am moving to Atlanta from Boston in 2-4 months. Need to sell/buy my house. Looking forward to the proximity to Road Atlanta. I am looking at a house in Alpharetta, and may put down a deposit tomorrow night. I fly in each week, usually Tues-Thurs. I'd like to do a drive but would want to wait until I was moved in and had my p-car vs a rental.

Chad: e-mail me and I can throw a DME relay your way to use as a tester to see if that is your problem.

Josh and crew: I'm thinking October 18 for our mountain drive. Does that work for everyone?
Also I'm open to suggestions on the route and posssible eating establishments. I have not been in the mountains in a while.

Oct 18 works for me - so we thinking drive up in morning and have lunch? Where could we meet to start off the cruise - Brian? Northpoint mall or International Performance in Roswell - sure would be fun to find some place with a Dyno some time...

18th, will try to make it. There is not really a bad route although some are better than others.

I have always met at Toosies, which is right before the turn to Dahlonega. Lots of bikes (givent he name) but a good spot nonetheless.

Turner's Corner is good place for lunch as it is still in the middle of the good roads.

here is the route of my last trip up there.

Toosies to Neals gap, Neals gap to 180 south (just past Vogle) to 60 (turn around at 60 and did 180 north back to 19/129 back up to Neals gap and then down to stone pile over to Turner's Corner continue on 129 to OLD 75 north on Old 75 to 180 (the part that goes by Brasstown Bald) to 19/129, south on 19/129 then back on 180 back to Two Wheels Only. Then 60 south to Stonepile and then to Turner's for Lunch.

That route took about 3 hours. The good and the better:
19/129 after stonepile up to Neals Gap is a classic, lots of passing lanes there is none better. Neals Gap to 180 is nothing special to drive, 180 south to Two Wheels is great but the bicyclists like this road so you need to watch for them. No passing zones to speak of. the run north on 180 is great as well. Go slow at the bridges and small lakes. 60 south from two wheels to stone pile is a really nice road but there is no where to pass slower traffic, the views are spectacular however. (I will just stop and wait for someone to come up from behind if I want to drive faster). Old 75 is a fun road but going south is better that going north due to better passing zones. The stretch of 180 by Brasstown is not that interesting to drive, the road up to Brasstown Bald is great if there is not any tourist traffic though. 19/129 south from Neals Gap is always congested with slower traffic, it could be great drive if the traffic was less.

Well, if anyone has an extra seat I'd love to come... Don't have a P-Car yet and don't have anything I can drive that is "spirited" enough for this run, if you know what I mean.

The 18th are you guys freakin crazy?!? That is the final day of Petit Le Mans.

http://www.roadatlanta.com/index.lasso

Our Porsche is going to be there.

What we should do is drive up there as a group and hang out together at the race. I was thinking about posting something about this pretty soon. I was also thinking about inviting all Rennlisters to park together. Maybe it’s just me but the thought of a couple hundred p-cars sitting together with p-cars racing around is the stuff dreams are made of.

I am most definitely game for a drive through the mountains though. Lets just do it the next weekend when the best race of the year for Georgia is not taking place.

John: I didn't realize this was going on, still trying to stay tuned to what's happening.
How about posting some information on that weekend: how to get tickets, prices, meeting place(so we can all make a grand entrance with all our Porsches)
How 'bout hooking a brotha up with some pit passes??
