Not enough room to remove transmission?

Am I missing something here?
Have the CV joints off = have the coupler pulled back and off the drive shaft
Have the torque tube blocked
Have the shift linkage loos in the front and removed at the rear. - Even removed the transmission cross bar -
Have a jack under the transmission - when I lower I am either hitting the spare tire carrier - or I bind with the torque tube. It looks like there is only about 1/2 inch clearance?

There are a couple dowel sleeves between the tranny and torque tube. It will come down, you just have to move the entire face of the tranny about 1/4" away from the torque tube and lower with a jack. 2 people makes it pretty easy.

I ended up removing my axles entirely when I replaced 1st & 2nd on my o1e 6speed. Like anything with a Porsche it all just barely fits. Make double sure you aren't somewhat caught on the shift linkage. I'm not under my car right now but are the dowel pins exposed..? Can they be convinced with a punch and a hammer? I don't photographically remember

The dowel pins are a (light) interference fit into their seats - they can be removed with vice grips easily. If they aren't on the torque tube check the mating face of the transaxle... they'll be in there.
I remember when I first put the current transaxle up into place it wouldn't seat correctly. was scratching my head pretty hard, until I realized the tranny probably had dowel pins in some of its recesses, and the torque tube had some from the prior tranny. Sure enough that was it.
