'83 944/1 Is the Cat one piece all the way to the headers?
So I snapped my cat a while back and just got around to pulling it off. All the photos I see are of a modular system but mine seems to be 1 pipe all the way from the where the muffler pipe bolts on and where it goes to the headers, with the cat built into that pipe.
Now I only have the exhaust off from where it snapped back to the muffler. Everything forward is still attached. Am I missing something? Is it normal for it to be one piece? Was there a retro fit for these ?
Again i might just be an idiot and need to look at it harder.
If you look at #10 in that figure, a stock 944 exhaust is separated there. You have one part that goes from the headers to the cat, and then that flange is there. After that it goes to the muffler so it can come off in 2 pieces after the headers.
looking at my pipes my unit bolts directly to the header on one end and it goes past the cat to a flange on the other end. There are no joints in the pipe other than at the flanges
Hope this helps .
