Default Got my 968 Cab today!

Well the dealer finally finished the work on the rear main seal under warranty (pulled the motor to do the job) and with the new windshield and all the maintenance done on the car, it's in pretty decent mechanical condition.

But now one of the heat shields is rattling and the TACH does not work! AAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

With 3 P-cars now, I really could do with a hoist....

The Tach is wiring related - worked fine before the car went into the dealer - the heat shield did not rattle either.

Welcome to the club, I made the change from coupe to cab in the spring-and haven't looked back since. Get ready for your cheeks to hurt from grinning.

Fixed the Tach with help from Rennlist - dealer mechanic broke 2 wires on the DME harness Re&Re engine. Much less hassle to ask for help on Rennlist than to fight the dealer, esp after they spent 5 days working on the car on warranty with the PO!

Congratulations on your cabriolet, Randy. As you'll soon discover, the topless driving experience is quite different from the coupe cars. I've gotten so used to taking the top down that hard tops make me feel caged in.

I just got back from a pretty long trip in mine: Barcelona-San Sebastián-Barcelona (about 650 miles) averaging about 120 mph. Top down you get additional driving perks like an exhilarating motorbike sensation at high speed, the sound of the exhaust in tunnels and a sun tan to boot!

Thanks Luis - this is basically a very good car - solid mechanicals and body, but the interior has had a tough life - the leather on the sports seats have not stood up well, and I cannot believe what the UV light has done to the carpets! Totally ruined IMHO. So looks like carpets and new seats, then a light color sanding and polish, glaze, wax, etc

keeping my 951 TS for highway and fast driving, and will use the 968 Cab for crusing and around town.

Hey - post 951!

Luis, San Sebastian-isn't that the town with the avant garde chef/restaurant, (El Bulli??) with the wacky foams as garnish and the unusual food matches? I just can't remember the chef's name right now.

Damian, you've got the guy right "Ferran Adrià." I'm guessing you read that alluring article in the New York Times. His renowned restaurant is in Roses, a town about 2 hours north of Barcelona, on the NE Spanish Mediterranean coast.

San Sebastian, however, is on the coast of the Biscayne Bay, which is split between Spain and France. Great place to tour in a SY 968 cabriolet, if I might add!

Thanks Luis for the information, Adria has been an inspiration for the last couple of years to many NY chefs-sometimes with mixed results!!

Luis, com estas?
I was born in Navas and spent a good part of my childhood there and now live in Atlanta. It's good to know there are enthusiasts in my homeland. I was there for three weeks in July and spent one week in Mallorca visiting my brother. It was a blast!
