Lo-Tek Pillar Install ?'s
I am going to be installing my A-pillar, and have a few questions.
1. Tapping into the KLR line in the passengers side footwell is better than tapping into the line in the engine compartment where it comes off the intake manifold, right?
2. Where is the better location for the boost guage, in the upper or lower pod?
3. For tapping into the ash tray light power, is that located under the ash tray, or is it somewhere else?
4. How much carpet needs to be pulled to access the KLR line to tap into it? Where and how should I pull it up? Will it have to be glued on the re-install?
5. When I put the T-fitting on the KLR line, should I use rubber hose to go around the nylon tubing and barb on the T fitting and tie-wrap it to do the connections?
Thanks
Mike

1: One's not "better" than the other, they'll give the same readings, the footwell is an easier install.
2. I put it in lower, closer to my line of sight when sitting in the car and driving.
3. Can't help you here, I relayed illumination switched power when I did my stereo.
4. Carpet is just laying in the front of the passenger footwell, grab upper right corner and pull it towards the rear of the car - there's some velcro, that's it - no gluing, no damage to it, looks identical when you put it back.
5. Sure!
An aside, my Lotek fit, but I could never get all the screws to line up, so I don't have all of the pillar screws in there. It's tight as is. I also did some cutting to have the pillar fit right around the VIN plate.

3. There is a light behind the center a/c vents. I think that's easier to get to than the ash tray. However there must be another place even better to tap into.

The ashtray light is indeed located right under, in front of the ashtray, just pull it up and out and you should see the little lamp with black wire leading to it.

What I was saying in my post is that there actually is a bulb behind the center a/c vents. But I'm sure you can get power from some other place closer to the gauge pod, the light dimmer to the left of the steering wheel maybe.
