Is it possible to tint the rear hatch of our 944's with a single sheet of film? The guy I visited (recommended) to ask him about tinting told me he will have to do the rear hatch using two pieces of film because of the shape of the glass.
Should I find someone else or am I expecting the impossible?
Thanks

i took a close look at mine done by the p/o, it looks like its 4 pieces, but you cant tell from the outside really. I think due to the shape its very hard to get it done in one piece.

Mine was done in 9 pieces. Hid all of the seams in the defroster lines.
The only thing harder than putting the tint on is taking it off without ruining the defroster lines. Ask me how I know. Thankfully, I didn't ruin the defroster lines.
Make sure you have the % light transmission you want, and get the best quality tint possible. Then pray you never have to take it off.

The installer who did both of mine said he had done cars before in one piece, but took two on both of mine. He said where as he normally does a car in 45 minutes, our cars take around 5 hrs to be perfect. I would be comfortable with an installer who did it in two. The guy who did mine had 25 yrs experience and was recommended by a porsche service centre.

The installer that did mine said it can't be done in one piece. So he had to do it in 2. I can't even see the joints, so the installer did a really nice job.

Everyone posting on this (who had their hatch glass tinted) should provide the cost paid to tint the rear hatch as well, the % light transmission they used, and the resulting visibility out of the rear hatch when driving at day/night.
In my case, I think it was $200 for the whole tint job (all windows - the guy didn't know what he was getting into, I think), it lasted 7 years (the car was garaged for 4 of the 7), with 20% light transmittance (I wish I had gotten it darker - 5%).

I paid $185 for the rear hatch(in two pieces) and the two rear windows at 20%. It's lasted two years now with no signs of wear. The installer said he had an easy time of it being able to crawl into the hatch. The rear windows were tougher due to the tiny seats!

Yes! Mine was done in one piece. Two guys worked on it...and the project was sort of a demonstration that it CAN be done.
I think the total job (windows and hatch) ran a couple hundred bucks.
