What are the correct center caps for cookie cutters?
I can't seem to find much of any info on what kind of center caps are 'correct' for the cookie cutters on my '84. I have three of them, and they're all silver, but seem like they're a little too small?
Were the original caps black to match the centers of the wheels, or silver, or what?

The correct caps are the latest style of Fuchs center cap. They were black to match as you'd expect. Earlier Fuchs used a ring attached by 3 prongs, but by the time the 944 came around both were using the ring clip shown in this image.

The ones you have look correct sometimes that cast diameter on the early Cookies ran a little large and you see that step.
The center cap in you picture may not be is silver looks like it was Black anodized and is faded. They can be painted at that point. The 3 prong early Fuchs centers did not run those two holes, making me think that is indeed a 80 x 71 mm ring style center cap. 70 mm hole in wheel, the ring on the cap is just under 70 mm but has 3 outward dimples stamped to make it approx 71 mm to snap into the wheel center.
The Phone Dials and Cup style wheels run a 60mm ring style and won't fit the Fuchs or Cookie Cutters unless you do some creative modifications. One trick is to run a 1/4 urethane tube around the ring so it snaps in place. They don't have a rounded edge and the OD is smaller than 80mm so really won't look right - But its been done...

Ken, I'll take the 4 caps with removal holes. PM me your paypal info. These caps should fit newer 80's 911 and 944 Fuchs, correct? Do they have the three mounting dimples you mentioned?
The other two caps you have don't have removal holes. Are those 3-prong caps for early 911 Fuchs?

Hi the other two that I have that do not have holes are also Fuchs ring style. On that later style some came with holes and others didn't . Yes these are the 71 mm ring style with dimples to retain them.
Look close #1372 crest had some distortion With the black paint its not to noticeable.
If that's Okay its $5 to ship all 4
I'll send a PM with the Paypal email

To expound on this further,
On 944 cookie cutters ( made by ATS ) a cast wheel, the one's which came on our 944s were black anodized and had the two removal holes. They were never painted a contrasting color, nor were they adorned with badges as sometimes seen. This is all aftermarket, or hand painted by owners, or artists doing this work.
To muddy things a bit further, the base 911 also had a cookie cutter rim nearly identical, BUT they were silver painted and not shiny black like the centers of the 944. Those center caps were silver to match the rim center.
Both ATS wheels came with the shiny, plastic coated, lathe style cut rim edge which by now and countless brake dustings, acidic salt baths, and numerous car washes, has left them looking a bit ragged. UNLESS you have a pristine low mile garage or concours queen, which has had loving care
