Default Is this 924 overpriced?

Spotted alongside the road in Grand Rapids, Michigan:

'77 924, dark orange with thick black racing stripes on hood and nose, with Porsche-font 924 interupting stripes on hood. Gold-painted stock-loking wheels.

I get closer: the paint along the top of the driver's door is peeled away, exposing primer, some of which has also peeled away exposing steel that is now surface rusted. There's ancient duct-tape residue on the glass sunroof and roof. Hmmm...

Look inside dirty windows: OMG there's no carpet or sound-deadening material. There's no interior panels at all. I can see lots of dirty orange sheet metal. The black leather driver's seat has a split large enough for my skinny *** to get stuck in, the passenger's seat lies dead and broken. The floor looks oddly stained, as if they removed the sound-deadening tar by chemical means - or the car was flooded at one time. The HVAC controls are semi-disassembled, hanging by wires. There's a box of unidentifiable (by me, anyway) parts in the back, with a black leather door panel or two.

Tires: older than dirt. There's tread, and oddly there's either overspray or acid-rain run-off orange in the grooves.

Pop the hood: clean engine compartment! Shiny new distributor cap, wires, and is that the coil? This is the first 924 motor I've ever seen, BTW. I honestly didn't know they were slanted. Looks tall.

I looked under the rear of the car, no deep rust evident - just some old-age corrosion.

Note on window: 1977 Porsche 924, new transmission & clutch, runs good, $1500. I walked back to my car laughing, with my wife at the price.

A grand and a half for a project 924? Is someone trying to pull a fast one on his wife, "Honey nobody wants it I might as well keep it..."?

Talk about WAYYYYYYYY overpriced. I'd give him 500 at the most if he could give me the receipt for the tranny and clutch job.

Offer him the $15.00 and run away.. you may escape the sound of it rusting in front of you.

I'm thinking it's a decimal point issue. anyone who THINKS they can get out what they have into it is sorely mistaken, now a nice 931 maybe..

Saw one around here go for like 550$ and it was in better condition from what it sounds. I wouldn't pay over 500$ for that.

Put a nickel in an envelope with a nice letter that reads, "Can you give me my car now?" Tape it to the window and wait for his reaction.

But it's only got 91,000 miles! I'll offer him at least two nickels and maybe a Canadian penny. Then again I forgot about the cracking bondo showing under the paint on the fenders...

Actually I'm not going near it again, I'm allergic to rust and have too many car projects already.

But if anybody in the area wants this Orange Hulk, it's on Ivanrest south of Rivertown Parkway (44th st) - right next to the huge mall just east of the I96 freeway.
