Default Coolant in the oil,

Im considering purchasing a 944 Turbo with "Coolant in the oil." The same thing happened on my old 944 and I know it's the head gasket. However, my block was cracked from the heat.

My question is - can I tell if the block is cracked without ripping it apart? Any other thoughts on this rom the rennlist experts? It's a good deal for the car, just don't want to have to put a new engine in it. Thanks

A leak down test would identify how the coolant is getting into the oil. If the block is cracked, which doesn't happen that often, the leak down test should help you identify that too.

Here is a link for FAQ about leak down tests which might be helpful.
