Default Problems with U.S. Mahle filters?

Someone at the PCA Mosport DE this weekend blew two oil filters in three days on a 968. The second time there was a trail on the line about a third of a mile long that took a long time to clean up. It looked like chain gang, all those guys with brooms! The car engine compartment was drenched in oil, on the brake discs etc.

One guy mentioned there are problems with the U.S. made Mahle filters. Anyone else heard of this?

My guess is that it was a defective oil pressure relief valve. A gentleman on www.968.net had the same thing happen and it resulted in a fire.
