Default Clearing fault codes...?

After replacing TPS and Hall sender, how do you clear fault codes? I remember reading somewhere that the fault codes stored will remain even if new parts are installed, and the car will not run right.
I've had my computer on my wife's car (89 Maxima)"reset" when the dealer forgot to, after a service trip.

Disconnect battery, just remove the negative pole, get a beer or two and then re-connect (asuming you are not a fast drinker....)
